2 September 2026 Formula SAE Italy 2026 Gets Underway: Tomorrow’s Engineering Talent Takes to the Track in Varano

The 21st edition of Formula SAE Italy officially kicks off today at the Riccardo Paletti Circuit in Varano de’ Melegari, bringing together university students from around the world to showcase their skills in race car design, innovation, and engineering.
Running through September 6, the event welcomes around 1,600 students from 14 countries, a total of 53 university teams and more than 50 universities. Competitors will take part in categories for electric, internal combustion, and autonomous vehicles, putting their technical expertise to the test alongside their project management, business, and presentation skills.
Organized by ANFIA with the support of SAE International, Motor Valley Development, and the Varano Circuit, Formula SAE Italy is one of the leading student engineering competitions in Europe. The event is designed to give participants hands-on experience that closely reflects the real-world vehicle development process, from concept and design through to on-track testing.
Dallara is once again actively involved, with many of its engineers and specialists serving as judges and technical inspectors throughout the competition. The company’s participation reflects its long-standing commitment to supporting and developing the next generation of engineers through an initiative that has helped shape future motorsport and automotive talent for more than two decades.
The week will also feature several track activities, including the traditional Track Show, where a selection of iconic cars will share the spotlight with the Dallara Stradale, offering spectators an exciting celebration of automotive passion and innovation.
