Dallara Automotive:
Advanced Automotive Engineering Travels on the Road

A story of love and technology

With over half a century of history, Dallara is a benchmark around the world for advanced automotive engineering which creates vehicles with the highest levels of performance.

Prestigious long-standing partnerships with cult brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Pagani, Alfa Romeo, Porsche, KTM, FCA – Stellantis – IVECO, VW, Maserati, and Alpine vouch for our Automotive Business Unit’s place as a global center of expertise for the entire sector.

Our approach to vehicle design and production is rooted in a philosophy which brings together structural lightness, driving pleasure, and technological innovation.

Incorporating expertise in design, aerodynamics, and cutting-edge technology, our automotive division’s mission is simple: transforming the customer’s vision into reality, ensuring that everything is tailored to the smallest detail.

From the Concept to Road Type Approval: the Customer is Always at the Center

Quality is the common thread linking every phase of our process: from the initial concept, through the engineering, prototyping, testing, and type approval stages, and on to series production, every project is a journey towards excellence.

We manage and monitor the entire supply chain: as such, we are able to intervene in every phase of the process, offering specific consultancy, spot manufacturing, or development of entire projects from scratch, depending on customer requirements.

Our approach – dictated directly by founder Giampaolo Dallara and the company culture he handed down – is based on teamwork and mutual understanding. We love working closely with our clients and developing solutions alongside them which meet their technical and commercial requirements.

A dedicated team is assigned to each project: project manager, engineers, and specialist technicians work in concert to ensure the timeframes and costs agreed and shared with those who choose us as a partner are met.

Technological Inspiration while Respecting Confidentiality

Innovation is at the heart of our activity.
Our ability to transfer knowledge and technology between different sectors, such as racing and automotive, allows us to continually push back the limits of what is possible. Techniques developed for race cars, such as use of advanced composites and high-efficiency aerodynamics, are applied to supercars and hypercars to improve the driving experience and performance.

But for us, technological innovation and sharing is always bound by confidentiality: each client is indeed managed by separate teams, which follow strict security protocols to protect sensitive information.

We operate in a sector in which innovation is key: sharing advanced knowledge and cutting-edge technologies is a powerful accelerator. But, at the same time, we understand the importance of confidentiality, which we protect by implementing security measures that guarantee that only authorized personnel can access the information for each specific project.

This approach allows us to maintain the full trust of our clients, protecting their products and their business interests.

Bugatti: from the Veyron to the Chiron

Our partnership with Bugatti led to two vehicles with spectacular performance: the Veyron in 2001, for which we designed the body shell and worked on the development of the suspension, the dynamics, and the aerodynamics. The Chiron then followed in 2016, taking the legacy of the Veyron and elevating it to the nth power: a car which, while incredibly fast, is also safe and luxurious

Maserati MC20: Light Weight and Aerodynamic Efficiency

The Maserati MC20 is a supercar which combines extraordinary aerodynamic efficiency with a no-compromises racing spirit. We developed the monocoque, ensuring lightness, torsional rigidity, and safety. The aerodynamic design was perfected through more than 2000 hours in our wind tunnel and over 1000 CFD simulations, achieving a high aerodynamic load with minimal wind resistance.
