Environmental Sustainability:
Dallara recognizes that reducing its environmental impact represents a strategic imperative for modern companies, closely linked to achieving the global sustainability goals set out in the Paris Accords on Climate Change.
This approach is not just an ethical option, but a competitive necessity which protects the company’s operational continuity by mitigating the risks deriving from climate change. These risks manifest both through potential damage to physical assets and the ever-more stringent evolution of the regulatory and environmental protection frameworks.
Dallara’s environmental strategy goes beyond regulatory compliance, incorporating sustainability into its investment choices. The company actively promotes environmentally compatible technologies, pursuing energy optimization, rational use of resources and efficient management of the waste cycle.

Certification of the Environmental Management System
Dallara demonstrates a concrete and structured commitment in environmental management, certifying its sites to the strictest standards and consolidating a systematic approach to sustainability which guarantees transparency and reliability for partners and stakeholders.
All the Dallara Automobili and Dallara Compositi premises and production sites have obtained ISO 14001:2015 certification. From a regulatory standpoint, the company sites – Dallara Automobili, Dallara Compositi and Fabbrica Dallara – operate under a Single Environmental Permit (AUA) regime, with precise monitoring of the critical environmental aspects: atmospheric emissions, water discharges, noise pollution, energy consumption, and management of refrigerant gases.
Energy Consumption and GHG Emissions
a’s production activities generate both direct and indirect environmental impacts, primarily linked to energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. A significant aspect involves the use of materials such as carbon fiber and resins, whose life cycle – from production to transformation – requires particular care from an environmental standpoint.
The main direct impact derives from consumption of electricity in production processes (26,734 GJ in 2022-2023), above all to power the autoclaves used in the processing of composites. Consumption of natural gas (5,042 GJ in the financial year) is, on the other hand, limited to space heating and production of domestic hot water.
In order to mitigate these impacts, Dallara has implemented a three-pronged strategy:
- Energy efficiency measures: implementation of structural measures in the plants, including the installation of exterior wall insulation and insulated doors and windows.
- Monitoring and control: implementation of advanced metering systems, particularly in the Dallara Compositi and Dallara Automobili sites, in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree 102/2014.
- Renewable Energy:
- Since 2020, procurement solely of energy from renewable sources for all Group sites (excluding Dallara USA)
- Expansion of self-generated energy capacity through:
- Installation of solar panels over parking lot P4 in Varano de’ Melegari (2022)
- New solar PV array on the roof of Dallara Compositi
- Projects in the assessment phase for overhaul of the Dallara Automobili plant and new installations
Transition towards Renewable Energy Sources

Management of Waste and Water Resources
Dallara’s commitment to sustainability also takes concrete shape in the efficient management of materials and resources, through an integrated approach that combines production efficiency and environmental responsibility. The strategy focuses on three key areas: management of composite materials, circular economy, and management of water resources.
Reduction in the Environmental Impact of Our Products
The global regulatory landscape is redefining the relationship between the automotive industry and sustainability, driving Dallara to reconcile performance excellence with reduced environmental impact. This transformation directly involves carbon fiber composites, key in Dallara’s production thanks to their light weight, strength and versatility. Nevertheless, the search for more sustainable alternatives has led the company to experiment with innovative materials such as flax fiber and natural cork fillers, while technologies such as FDM 3D printing are optimizing the production processes.
Our commitment to the circular economy is also significant, with a process for recycling single-seaters at the end of their lives to recover the carbon fiber for new seats, reducing the environmental impact. A concrete example of this philosophy is the SF23, designed for Super Formula 2023, which aims for carbon-neutrality thanks to the use of recycled materials and natural fibers.
Towards Carbon Neutrality in Motorsport: the FIA 2020-2030 Environmental Strategy
The FIA Environmental Strategy 2020-2030 is an ambitious plan of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile to make motor racing more sustainable by taking on the sector’s environmental challenges. The strategy focuses on four core pillars:
- Transition towards clean and sustainable energy sources.
- Promotion of energy efficiency and electric mobility.
- Reduction in carbon emissions.
- Protection of the natural environment during racing events.
