In Sierra Leone, a country in Central Africa, there are no roads or electricity, wells are difficult to find, and the houses are made of mud. In areas where charity organizations have not been involved, children still huddle under a mango tree for school.

Dallara has been a longtime collaborator of “Friends of Sierra Leone,” a program founded by Amos Grenti from Parma. In 2007, Dallara joined a program proposed by the Association of Parma that would construct a craft village in Mabesseneh. It was through this program that Dallara founded the “Caterina Dallara Mechanical Workshop” in memory of Caterina, Giampaolo Dallara’s daughter and his invaluable collaborator in the company, whose untimely death occurred in 2007.

People in this village have the opportunity to receive vocational training and experience thanks to scholarships founded by donors. These vocational students are able to become skilled workers in the Caterina Dallara Mechanical Workshop, increasing their chances of finding jobs to support their families. The young people of this village feel privileged to know the word “hope,” a sentiment that is often forgotten in Africa.
