Similar to the Formula Renault 3.5, Dallara is responsible for the design and manufacturing of the Renault RS01 chassis.

The structure of this car uses different forms of composites: carbon fiber, glass fiber and kevlar, kevlar being the dominate material. On the front of these cars, a deformable structure absorbs energy in case of collision. Attached to the gearbox, another 'crash box' provides the same role in the back of the vehicle. Everything is designed to conform to FIA rules LMP1 2014 and to ensure high safety standards.

The safety device is completed with a collapsible steering column and the Sabelt seat is compatible with the HANS system.

The engine, prepared by Nismo, is a twin-turbo 3.8L V6 from the Nissan GT-R. The main difference between this engine and the road series is the installation of a dry sump. The Pectel electronic box provides traction control.

The pressure of the Turbo is 500 hp and has a maximum torque of 600 Nm. The Renault RS 01 is positioned between GT3 and DTM.
